About this book
Book blurb from Exclusive Books
“The captivating sequel to the Gothic-infused Belladonna, in which Signa and Death face a supernatural foe determined to tear them apart. A duke has been murdered. The lord of Thorn Grove has been framed. And Fate, the elusive brother of Death, has taken up residence in a sumptuous estate nearby. He’s hellbent on revenge after Death took the life of the woman he loved many years ago…and now he’s determined to have Signa for himself, no matter the cost.
Signa and her cousin Blythe are certain that Fate can save Elijah Hawthorne from prison if they will entertain his presence. But the more time the girls spend with Fate, the more frightening their reality becomes as Signa exhibits dramatic new powers that link her to Fate’s past. With mysteries and danger around every corner, the cousins must decide if they can trust one another as they navigate their futures in high society, unravel the murders that haunt their family, and play Fate’s unexpected games-all with their destinies hanging in the balance.
Dangerous, suspenseful, and seductive, this sequel to the story of Signa and Death is as utterly romantic as it is perfectly deadly.”

My Thoughts:
“She didn’t care to be a sunflower, unfurling her petals in the daylight for all to see. She would rather be an adorable little mushroom, thriving in the dark crevices where few ventured to look.”
I love this series! “Foxglove,” the second book in the Belladonna series, is a gripping continuation that should definitely be read after “Belladonna” to fully appreciate the evolving story.
“You are mine.” The words were not possession, but a promise. “For as long as you’ll have me, you are mine, Signa Farrow. I will burn this world to cinders before I let anyone take you from me.”
In “Foxglove,” we delve deeper into the Gothic world established in “Belladonna,” exploring the intricate dynamics between characters old and new. Blythe steps into the spotlight, proving to be an immaculate female lead as she navigates a world filled with romance, danger, mystery, and ghostly charm. The introduction of Fate, Death’s estranged brother, adds a fascinating new layer to the story, as he seeks revenge and manipulates events like a master puppeteer.
“You asked me who I was afraid of. “He stretched his hand out, brushing his fingers across the portrait’s frame. “My brother may be a nuisance, but I do not fear him. I do, however, fear you, Signa. I fear that someday you will break my heart.”
Signa and Blythe’s journey to save Elijah Hawthorne is fraught with peril, revealing new powers and deeper layers of the Gothic universe. Despite the slower pace compared to the first book, the dark mood and complex plots keep you hooked.
“My love for you is not confined to time, nor fate. It is a love that I will hold with me for an eternity, which is why I am not afraid. I swear to you that I will always be yours, even when I am not.”
Character Development:
- Blythe: Courageous, clever, and brilliantly ruthless with a hint of vulnerability that makes her relatable and engaging.
- Signa: While she starts strong, her role becomes more passive, but her new powers add intrigue.
- Fate: A demanding and enigmatic presence, his character evokes a mix of emotions, leaving readers conflicted yet captivated.
- Death: Though his presence is less noticeable, his impact lingers, and his evolving relationship with Signa remains a highlight.
Key Themes:
- Gothic worldbuilding
- Romance and obsession
- Mystery and supernatural elements
- Trust and betrayal
Final Thoughts:
“They say that all is fair in love and war. I have built my trench and brought my rifles, and I have no intention of retreating. I will pursue you until you remember who you are. If that means I need to court you, Signa Farrow, I will. Flowers, promenades, even poetry if that’s what you want. Whatever it is you enjoy, I will learn, and eventually you’ll remember the life we once had.”
This sequel sets up the third book, “Wisteria,” perfectly, especially with Blythe taking center stage. The character development is rich, and the writing is as engaging as ever. Despite some slower moments, “Foxglove” is a dark and delectable addition to the series, blending mystery, romance, and fantasy seamlessly.
Absolutely adored this book. I can’t wait for “Wisteria”!
