Review Snippet: Nanny Needed by Georgina Cross
Apologies for the crappy image, hopefully I will be able to get better copies once the book has officially been released.
About this book (blurb from #NetGalley):When Sarah Larsen answers the Bird family’s advertisement, her life changes overnight. The job seems like a dream come true: nannying in a glamorous penthouse apartment with a salary that adds several zeroes to her current income. Sarah signs the contract binding her to complete secrecy without a second thought. These are important people, after all – they can’t be too careful about who they let into their home. All is well until events in Sarah’s life begin to take a sinister turn and the trail leads back to the Birds. She soon realises there’s something very strange about the family. But by then, is it too late for her?
My Thoughts:
This book literally made me hold my breath in anticipation and expectation at times. Twists and turns – with several “what???” moments. I found it so entertaining, with some predictable curve-balls and some out-of-the-blue ones. It is one of those ‘just one more chapter’ reads, and I whizzed through it very quickly. Words like ‘creepy’, ‘sinister’ and ‘macabre’ will work well to describe this story and some of the characters involved. I am still not sure about the ending, but that may just be my personal opinion! I listened to the audiobook version, so a few notes about that. It is brilliantly narrated by Emma Ashton who keeps up with the pace and emotion of the story line. It was great to listen to! Rating 4/5
